Organic Matcha Iri Sencha is made of our finest Organic Sencha added with 2.5% (wt) of Organic Matcha Spring grade. This organic sencha is harvested during the 1 harvesting period which takes place during April-May. This makes it as our 1st grade organic sencha. The added organic matcha powder is also harvested at the same harvesting period and is equivalent to our Spring grade matcha. 

This combination is absolutely perfect for those who love sencha and matcha. The matcha powder added more nutritious value and mineral to the sencha green tea. 

Uji Sencha or Uji "Boiled Tea" is a Japanese Green Tea with tightly rolled, needle-shaped leaves that are harvested in Southern Kyoto. Usually tea leaves harvested in the early spring are processed into hi-quality Matcha and Gyokuro green tea because the tea leaves develop a perfect balance of sweetness and astringency. But this high quality tea leaves were harvested in early spring and were processed into our high quality grade 1 Uji Sencha green tea. The tea leaves are then first steamed and further processed with hot-air drying and finally pan-frying. 

Harvested near the southern part of Kyoto, our tea leaves are 100% organically grown with chemical free biomass and water. 

Spring Grade? 
In Japan, the best tea leaves and tea buds only occurs in Spring, March-May which is also the 1st harvesting period. This is the period when young tea leaves and tea buds contain the richest catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), and other natural varieties of chemical compounds, minerals, vitamins, volatile oils and essential nutrients that makes green tea its health and medicinal effects that is most famous for. Moreover, the most expensive tea (Organic or non Organic) are harvested in Spring and these young tea leaves and tea buds does not only contain the best ingredients, it also contains a large amount of aroma compounds that gives out a very special aroma and flavor.

Tea Plantation:

This product is produced by the Nagata Family who unlike most farmers was the first to produce Organic Tea in Uji Chaen, Japan. Tea farm is located at Southern Kyoto. Instead of using fertilizers, chemical, animal manure, herbicides or pesticides to fertile their tea garden soil, the Nagatas have discovered new agricultural methods to nurture tea plant that will produce tea twice as long a period of time and twice as powerful as their nutritious value.

The Nagata Family's passion, dedication and perseverance to make the finest tea have finally paid off. Now, we can enjoy green tea from Uji's centuries old tea plantation that is respectfully referred to as Uji-Chaen.
